Great find for baby photos!

I was at Harvest store in San Carlos a while back and found this vintage scale I really liked. I had been looking for one online for a while, but didn’t see anything I liked. So when I saw this, I had to buy it! This is perfect for new born photos and maybe for baby announcement cards.

It is small enough to bring it with me for on location photo sessions which is great.
We were not sure if she could push her head up, so we waited for a while to see… And she did! Well, for one second, at least.

I took the baby scale to a park for a family photo session. It was cold, so I had to be quick!

Small Business Saturday!

I am one of those people who hate shopping at big stores after Thanksgiving day. I Also don’t think savings are that great on a lot of things since stores raise prices before the sale and say they are 50% off or whatever…

So tomorrow, I am going to walk to little stores in my neighborhood to shop. I would rather support small businesses around us. One of my favorite shops is Red Square. It is a bit away from downtown San Mateo, so it is not very visible, but it is a hidden gem.
The owner herself is a designer, but she also sells clothing by other local designers, so they have unique clothing for women, men and children. It is a great time to go there to get your holiday dress that is different from other dresses from big department stores or big box stores.

Some dresses they have and they have a lot more!

A bit more casual dresses that can work for both holiday parties and just a lunch date.

She also runs sewing classes for kids, called Camp Couture. Perfect after school activity for creative children.

I got a catalog from Pottery Barn and saw a set of frames I love. So I ordered them. They are so cute!

Custom framing can be very expensive… So I thought I can buy frames and have some photos printed in sizes that fit the frame! The set was only $149. Yes, for 3 of them! Custom framing can easily cost $300+ each.

I just have not decided which photos to print… When you get photos on canvas boards, you don’t need to frame them, but if you want to do so, this is more economical way to go.

I photographed brothers the other day in Foster City. They were very energetic and fun! They kept running around or making faces, so their mom was telling them “normal smile! normal!”

But I actually like photographing just how they are. So I kept photographing.

When the time came for her to choose photos, I thought I would throw in a couple of photos of the boys making faces. And guess what? What she liked most was the one both of them are making funny faces together. She said “well, this IS their normal…”

This photo will remind her and her husband what their ‘normal’ used to be when they were younger…

Good doggies!

I was able to capture 2 dogs together, looking at a camera! I didn’t even have to use a squeaky toy. Kiko and Cookie are just great dogs. So adorable!
